Glorfindel was an Eldarin Elf-lord, who at the time of the War of the Ring was second in power in Rivendell only to Elrond Halfelven. Glorfindel led the force of Elves that ruined the Witch-realm of Angmar in 1975 of the Third Age. In 3018 he met up with Frodo and his friends, as well as Aragorn, and protected him until Frodo's arrival in Rivendell, at which point he did battle with the Ringwraiths. Glorfindel was the owner of Asfaloth.
