Éowyn

Éowyn is the brother of Éomer, and the daughter of Éomund and Théodwyn. She served Rohan, and when she met Aragorn fell in love with him, though he loved her not. When he decided to take the Paths of the Dead, she despaired and disguised herself as a Man and called herself Dernhelm, thus bringing Merry to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. This was an important chance, for there, with the assistance of Merry the Halfling she slew the Lord of the Ringwraiths and won great renown. She was horribly injured from this, however.

It was Aragorn that saved Éowyn's life with athelas herbs. She then realized her true desire, not to be a shield maiden, but to be a wife, and thus she married Faramir and became the Lady of Ithilien.
